Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) Federal Contract Program (Administered by the SBA)

The SBA is tasked to administer the Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Program External link. The certification for this program is unique in that it is a self-certification program that requires External link specific supporting documentation to be uploaded to an online repository on the SBA website. The uploaded documentation includes a signed verification stating all documents and statements are true and accurate. The information in the repository must be verified by contracting officers prior to awarding a WOSB or EDWOSB contract to a company.

In addition to self-certification, the SBA does recognize qualified 8(a) Certified WOSBs along with a few third party certifiers recently approved in accordance with the new rule and listed on their WOSB webpage External link. Third party certification organizations do charge fees for their service. However, if a company has been certified WOSB or EDWOSB through one of these organizations, the verification process is expedited for contracting officers.
